EQ Mix ‘n’ Match 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

This project file uses block designs from the Electric Quilt Library which I have added to by mixing up the pieces and leaving some out elsewhere to make border blocks.

I like using block designs as quilting motifs and I show them in contrast thread, but I would add more quilting, but not too much, to fill the background space in a thread to match the background fabric.

EQ Mix ‘n’ Match 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

When I posted the first two designs from this project file yesterday I was happy with the block designs, and with the colours, but thought I could make the overall design better.

What if … I added sashing, but that didn’t appeal to me, so I have modified the sashing to the now you see it, now you don’t variety.

I changed the width of the sashing from the 2 inches I started with between the 12 inch blocks, to 0.5 of an inch, and used contrast fabric in only some of them!

EQ Mix ‘n’ Match 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

All the blocks in this project file are designed using block designs from the Electric Quilt Block Library, but with the shapes mixed and matched with each other. Challenge for you is to identify the original blocks from the library.

My favourite is the second design!

I have been playing with the block designs for quite some time, but have concentrated on the mixing and matching, and have just started adding border versions and quilting motifs. Lots of play time ahead!
